This is Bryce and Elly, and we are your Belmont Catholic co-Presidents for the 2016-17 school year! We hope everyone has had a spectacular summer so far, but we CANNOT WAIT to get back to Belmont as we have some awesome stuff planned for the upcoming year! Leaving all your friends and family and moving to Belmont (sometimes from a far distance) is something everyone is very nervous about at first. Belmont Catholic was one of the first friend groups we made after moving to school, and they’ve been family every since.
Belmont Catholic is the Belmont branch of University Catholic (UCat) that serves college students throughout Nashville. Every week we have combined bible studies, adoration, (and most importantly) Mass offered near campus with transportation from Belmont. We also participate in many fun activities together including intramural sports, weekly meetings, community service, an amazing Awakening retreat, and Sunday Supper at the Frasatti House where we get together for a family meal every Sunday then attend Mass together! We’ve been blessed to do this with students who have become our family away from home— students who not only are fun to hang out with, but who are also committed to the Faith, strengthened by the Sacraments, and growing in God’s love. We hope you’ll join our adventures.
Our main goal for the semester is to be your family here in Nashville. Whatever it is you are looking for, we are here to help you adjust to college life and most importantly grow in your relationship with God. Whether that means being a very active part of the community, being casual friends to hang with every once in awhile, or just people to go to Mass with on Sundays, we want UCat to be one of the best parts of your college experience as it has been for us. College is important, classes are important, getting a job is important, but none of this compares to the main priority, which is getting your soul back to God’s love in heaven.
Our first events kick off right away with Move-In Mass on Saturday, August 20th at 9:30 PM in the Chapel inside the Janet Ayers Academic Center. Later that week, our annual Roman Rush will kick off on Thursday, August 25 in University Ministries. Further details about these events are enclosed.
We can’t wait to meet all of you in a few weeks! We’ll be praying for you!
Feel free to reach out to either of us any time or any of the amazing people we have helping us including Fr. Fye, UCat’s Campus Chaplain, and the wonderful Courtney Barnes, our Director of Campus Ministry. We are more then willing to answer any questions you have!
