Speaker's Biography

Sr. Cecilia Anne, O.P.

Sr. Cecilia Anne, O.P., currently serves as president of Aquinas College.  She earned an M.S. in Science and Mathematics Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, an M.A. in Thomistic Theology from the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception, and is a Ph.D. candidate in Mathematics Education at Middle Tennessee State University. Her primary research interests focus on preservice teacher education.  Her talk, Sent to Witness, will inspire us that in whatever context we find ourselves, we are sent to witness to our faith.

Kathy Pohlid

Kathy Pohlid is an attorney for the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, where she primarily represents the Agency in personnel law matters. She was a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor for over 12 years before going into private practice.  A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, she retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a Colonel and naval judge advocate.  Kathy and her husband Roman are parishioners of the Cathedral of the Incarnation.  She is also a former president of the Nashville Catholic Business Women’s League and a member of the Board of the St Thomas Health Foundation.

Drs. Wes and Kim Ely

Drs. Wes and Kim Ely will give a reflection on their journey – the ups and downs – as married Catholic physicians. Kim A. Ely, MD, is Associate Professor of Pathology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. E. Wesley Ely, MD, MPH, is Professor of Medicine and Critical Care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Nashville VA.
