Coordinator of Campus Ministry

Courtney Soto

Courtney Soto is UCat’s Coordinator of Campus Ministry. You may know her as Courtney Barnes as she is a newly wed whose name recently changed. A 2006 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Courtney majored in Philosophy with a minor in French and Francophone Studies. After graduating from Notre Dame, Courtney moved back home to Nashville to teach theology at Pope John Paul II High School. Teaching theology stirred a desire to discern a religious vocation, so Courtney entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. During her time with the sisters, Courtney earned a Master’s in Secondary Teaching from Aquinas College. Yet she discerned that she did not have a call to religious life, so she left the monastery and the very same year began her career with University Catholic. Courtney is passionate about college ministry “because I was the student who had a conversion in college, so I feel called to share that experience with our students so that they may avoid the mistakes I made. I am continuously inspired by the faith and virtue of students.”
